Women Rights in Nepal

A man and Woman are two wheels of a cart. They have equal roles in making the cart move properly. If one of the wheels is weaker, the cart can’t move properly as needed. A woman cannot complete her duties if she is not provided her rights. We can realize existing prejudice in our society. All the women are not provided with their rights. We can realize prevailing discrimination between men and women. Rights are basic requirements for human beings to enhance the status. In order to promote women status in Nepal, Women have to be provided all the rights. Women in Nepal are not appropriately enjoying their rights. Many dead traditions and concepts stop the women from practicing their rights. The women who are uneducated feel that they are not capable as men. They feel themselves weaker. They depend on male members of the family. They cannot enjoy any rights and freedom. Some of the conscious and educated women enjoy different modes of freedom and rights. Discrimination between men and women has been existing in Nepal for ages. They enjoy and practice distinct modes of freedom and rights. All the rights can be classified into social and legal. We can see a clear demarcation between men and women in social rights. The status of Nepalese women is improving. Our society has also reformed the evil traditions and social practices. The social values and norms which are not fair have been changed.

Child rights in Nepal

The children, in fact are our bright future stars and glory of the nation. They are the future hope and get better opportunities to enhance their all round development. Rights are those conditions that ensure the opportunity to enjoy the fundamental needs so as to enhance one's dignity and prosperity. The condition of child rights in Nepal is highly miserable, despite its provision as the fundamental rights in our present constitution.
We should provide education and training to the children. The young children can be mounded as we wish as a potter shapes soft clay into beautiful pots. Opportunities to education and other services regardless any sort of discrimination is only the key to brighten the future of children. The children are innocent, curious, active and enthusiastic by nature. They are in need of friendly and healthy atmosphere to live in peace. They learn and experience more new things which make them mature and responsible. It is obvious that it is possible only if they can enjoy their inborn rights without any hindrance. Since the fundamental child rights include right to shelter, food, education, health care, recreation and sports etc, they are basic needs for the spontaneous development of one's personality.
Being a democratic country, Nepal has been taking needy steps for the protection and promotion of child rights. It has permitted many NGO's and INGO's to work in Nepal in this regard. UNICEF, UNDP, SOS, CWIN etc along with the NGOs are working actively for the promotion of child rights. The government of Nepal passed the Child Act in 2048 B.S. This law provides legal rights to the children and prohibits the children under 14 to work in any industry. Similarly Nepal celebrate the year, 1990 A.D. as the girl child along with other SAARC countries. Our present interim constitution 2063 has introduced many provisions for the protection and promotion of child rights working for the Welfare of the children.

Child Labor in Nepal

Childhood is the foundation of ones future life. The Children need freedom, justice and peace so as to enhance their dignity and promote prosperity. The children below the age of sixteen rears sound be provided with proper love, care and opportunity. Despite this, some evil minded people force them to involve in physical labor and exploit them physically and mentally as well. This saddening problem is child labor. We innocent people have just bee the eye witness of this pad condition.
Obviously, the children are deprived of enjoying that rights. The children require proper love and affection from parents. So as to make their all round growth and development possible. They equally need educational opportunity and recreation. Instead, large number of children are forced to face physical and mental torture in course of their work. Nepalese people are mere ignorant. Most of the people are uneducated. They are gullible by nature. They send their innocent children to well to do family or factories to work for the sense of making money. We Nepalese people possess poor economic status. We need to have any means of earning. Unemployed has bee burning problem of the country. Thus, the people send their children to work as laborer is for the sake of employment and money. Prevailing impunity due to the growing political instability has also caused the increasing in child labor in Nepal.
Some Children are forced to give up their studies for the sake of minimal jobs. They get employed in the house of well to do people, factories, industries, hotels and even in public vehicles. It is the matter of regret that even the high rank officials and law makers have employed children in their house as servants preventing them from enjoying their inborn rights. These child laborers involve in household activities and others like washing dishes, tending cattle, carpet making carrying load etc. They are neither treated well nor paid with attractive salary.
Poverty, unemployment and impunity are increasing at high scale. Thus, this problem is increasing day by day. The government of Nepal now has paid proper attention to control it. Child rights have bee introduced as the fundamental rights in the present interim constitution. Let's hope, this problem can be minimized by implementing the laws strictly. Mass unawareness is only the key of social reform.
Thus, educational service should be extended to the every part of the country. People should be educated about the consequences of this problem. Laws of the country Should be punished. The works of NGOs and INGOs in this field should be controlled and supervised. Only then, Nepal can be free from this worse condition of children and child labor.
